INTRODUCTION

Year of establishment: 2009

The department was established for postgraduate studies as a new speciality by the MCI and this was the 3rd department of EM to be established in the country and has been training Emergency Physicians since 2011.  

Emergency Medicine (EM) is a rapidly expanding and exciting specialty concerned with the initial diagnosis and management of the acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury affecting patients of all age groups with the full spectrum of undifferentiated physical and behavioural disorders.

It is the specialty in which time is critical.

Emergency Physicians are able to look after patients with a wide range of pathologies from the life-threatening to the self-limiting.

EM Quiz 2017

Department of Emergency Medicine, Medical College Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat successfully conducted a very innovative way of sensitizing undergraduates for the new speciality of Emergency Medicine through organizing a EM quiz 2017.

Life Saving Skills EMA leaders from the department of Emergency Medicine, Baroda, Gujarat in association with Dept. Of Anaesthesiology, GMERS Medical College, Gotri, Baroda, Gujarat successfully conducted a workshop on Life Saving Skills.

More than 100 undergraduates participated in the event. The workshop was held in multiple sessions. It was a highly interactive activity focussed on ‘Quick identification and management of Life Threatening conditions in Emergency Department’.

Basic Emergency Skills

Department of Emergency Medicine, Medical College Baroda give Basic Emergency Skills to Students of Medicine at 2nd Convention (National Medical Conference) of "Indian Medical Association - Students' Wing" & Young Doctor's Wing hosted by IMA-Vadodara. The undergraduates from different states of India participated in this event.

Faculties educated the budding doctors to triage properly using different method and also stressed upon the ABCD: Airway, Breathing, Circulation and Deformity approach to prioritise the patient those who requires emergent attention and intervention. The students were taught indispensable lifesaving procedures to be done during triage. The training program included didactic theory classes and group discussions.
